Before we begin:
In this first module, we share our own story of divorce, alienation, and, thankfully, healing. This is not a roadmap, but an invitation to pause and reflect on your own family and experiences.
This story is deeply personal. As part of it, Palmer speaks openly about a time when he was struggling deeply, including thoughts of suicide. We share this to offer important context for where this work comes from and why it matters to us. You will hear how, even with love present, divorce can quietly shake a child’s inner world. You will also see that hope can still exist, even in dark moments.
This module is not essential. If the content feels too intense, you are welcome to skip ahead and return later if you choose. Please also know that this first module is more story-based. The modules that follow focus on practical skills, research, and evidence-based guidance you can use right away.
Trigger warning: This module includes references to suicidal thoughts and strong language. We approach these topics with care and honesty, knowing how important it is to face them openly. Some strong language appears in Palmer’s journal entries from when he was 16, preserved as he wrote them.
